I chose this version of my homophobia poster to be the best because, after hearing some of my classmates opinions I decided that this one was the most serious and impacting. The others on the white backgrounds, seem a little more happy and didn't portray the right message. However, on the dark navy blue background I found that it made it a bit more serious and changed the mood up. I chose the colours of red, orange, green and blue because they represent the gay pride flag with the exceptance of purple. Each colour has it's own meaning, and together are forceful and bring emotion.

I also decided to use a Dr. Seuss quote because, he as a famous childrens writer can get children to learn about this earlier in their years without really knowing it. If a simple childs quote can bring so much meaning to a variety of people, wouldn't it make sense to use something so strong yet simplistic ? I chose to put the stick men in my poster because with one flaw of my poster is that without the "stop homophobia" at the top the poster could be about anything. But with the two stick men holding hands it made it a little more obvious with using less words.

flickr slideshow

This is my slide show. In our class we had to pick a place that you would like to shoot. I chose the assembly hall because it has really good architecture and lighting. The Assembly hall holds free movies and plays for the Lakeshore community. It's been around for a long time and has a rustic but yet very modern feel to it. In the assembly hall they showcase art, plays and information. The artwork there is so amazing. The lighting was really good in the ah! creating really good photos. The assembly hall is a beautiful building with amazing people, it was a pleasure photographing it.

anti- homophobia posters.

Starting videography, our class split into groups of 4 choosing a topic that we wanted to make aware. Our group chose Anti-Homophobia, because homophobia is something that our school doesn't stand for.

Personally, being "homophobic" makes no sense to me at all. How can you be afraid of someone who loves and cares for a person, the same way you do, however chooses to with the same sex. If our society and government have chosen to be okay with this, then why are others making such a big deal out of it? Gay, straight, lesbian, transgender are just terms. Think about it this way, if everyone in the world was gay and you were the ONLY straight person, how would feel? I'm guessing you would feel alone, and unexcepted.

These are the reasons, why our group chose this topic. Students, and young children are the next generation you can choose to except it, or just live with it. However, slashing or making fun of the terms OR the people is unacceptable.

Anyways, our assignment consisted of making 2 different posters, on the same topic. Choosing which one was better, then making 2 different copies of it. Therefore having 3 posters. Hope you enjoy.

collage.

So in class last week, our class was able to go out and do our first shoot. Photography shoot, obviously, so as the pairs went out my partner and I went out and chose that we were going to base our photos on texture and the earth, things that people don't really appreciate and take for granite. So as we set off taking pictures of walls, our classmates and eachother. We started photographing flowers, trees and silly little things.

My collage is based strictly on texture, rocks, flowers and needles. I decided to blend them in by lightening them and trying to make them match to the best of my ability. I put in a lot of obvious things that represent texture, and made them mesh in a way that looked good, attracted attention and had a message. The visual expression of the collage is beauty and an earthly touch.

Mega Assignment part 2

So, yesterday Ms. Silverman gave us our two part assignment.
the first part was to find a photoshop trick that you didnt know, try it out and blog about it.
the second was find a photographer and blog about their photography, as long as you liked what you saw. I decided to do the second part first because, im cool like that, and because if you know me at all you know that im picky with what i do.
I chose Mary Ellen Mark because I find her work very humourus and simple.

Mary Ellen Mark focuses manly on social issues like homelessness, loneliness, drug addiction, and prostitution. She works primarily in black and white. She is better known for her photojournalism, portraiture, and advertising photography.

Mark's photographs speak to you and touch a place in your heart. When I was looking through her photos I found that she had really, cute and heart warming pictures. Mary Ellen shoots a lot of movies capturing perfect moments that are never to be forgotten. This photo inperticularly, shows that there's a lot of tension with all the people maybe as if their at a funeral and this one man, is just goofing off, making faces to this man who maybe is his boss or even father.

Mary Ellen Mark has some very intense photos that make you open your eyes to what's around you and what's going on in the world. So check her out because she's a photographer you don't wanna miss out on.
